Amnesty International is recruiting for a new full-time Advocate/Adviser position, based in Berlin (Germany), for our global technology and human rights team, this will be on a two year fixed term contract basis.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As part of our global technology and human rights team, you will be working to combat unlawful surveillance, help to protect activists against digital threats, advocate for the protection of privacy and freedom of expression online and for the protection of human rights in the development and use of articial intelligence and other emerging technologies. You will be working at the cutting edge of human rights, using Amnesty’s campaigning, communications and research expertise to deliver positive human right impact. You will be working closely with national Amnesty sections across the globe and Amnesty’s partners to tackle human rights issues present and future.
As Advocate/Adviser on technology and human rights, you will develop, coordinate and execute Amnesty´s international advocacy strategies on technology and human rights issues. You will identify strategic opportunities for intervention and represent Amnesty at relevant international meetings, conferences and forums, advancing the organization’s human rights positions and fostering partnerships with like-minded organizations and individuals.
With strong interpersonal skills including advocacy, negotiating and influencing, you will have extensive professional experience of undertaking advocacy on human rights issues (preferably in an international setting). You will be an expert in international human rights legal framework, excellent political judgement and strong analytics skills. We’re seeking a self-driven individual who is able to think and plan strategically, with advanced communication skills and the ability to produce clear, persuasive and concise written materials.
While the post will be part of the international team using English as a working language, candidates will be required to develop a basic understanding of German as the working language of the hiring local Amnesty section.
