IASS Potsdam is currently seeking applicants for the position of an Editor and Translator (English) for the duration of 2 years.
Founded in 2009, the IASS is an international, interdisciplinary hybrid between a research institute and a think-tank, located in Potsdam, Germany. The publicly funded institute promotes research and dialogue between science, politics and society on developing pathways to global sustainability. The IASS focuses on topics such as sustainability governance and economics, new technologies for energy production and resource utilisation, and Earth System challenges like climate change, air pollution, and soil management.
Translation of German texts into English
Correction of spelling and grammar, quality control and revision of texts
Final proofreading of institutional publications and texts in English
Supporting the preparation of publications such as studies, project reports, working papers, press releases and interviews in English
Development of text templates according to the corporate wording and development of a glossary on sustainability topics
Support for authors regarding orthographic and stylistic questions
English as mother tongue as well as excellent knowledge of the German language, both orally and in writing
Trained translator and/or editor as well as many years of experience preferably in the field of science
Careful and precise working style with high attention to detail
Excellent feeling for language and texts
You work independently and deliver within the agreed time
Strong ability to work in a team, high motivation and interest in sustainability topics
Very good knowledge of MS Office
